took the stage, presenting valuable insights under the title "Cosmetic Products." This event was part of the Pharmacy Training Committee's strategy to enrich students' education and align with the dynamic demands of the job market.
The lecture explored diverse topics, including detailed information about skin composition, its various types, and methods to determine skin type without reliance on sophisticated devices. Practical approaches to treating common skin problems, such as acne and dryness, were also spotlighted.
Attendees were guided through daily skincare regimens, exploring the finest cosmetic products designed for moisturizing, exfoliation, and safeguarding the skin against sunlight and UV rays, while reducing visible signs of aging.
Among the distinguished attendees were Professor Fadia Mias, the Faculty Dean, accompanied by faculty and administrative members. The lecture received praise from students, who expressed gratitude for the rich information provided which can be used in both their daily life and in their professional journey.

On November 1, 2023, a workshop was organized by Dr. Alaa Yehya and Dr. Ali Hmedat, as instructors and researchers in Pharmacogenomics and Biotechnology, respectively.
The workshop aimed to introduce the students to the concepts and applications of the two leading sciences in the field of healthcare. During the workshop, Dr. Yehya gave an interactive lecture on the basic concepts and objectives of pharmacogenomics, and explained how genetic testing can help to personalize drug therapy based on the genetic characteristics of the patients.
Dr. Hmedat then gave a talk about the concepts, history, and development of biotechnology, and highlighted the various applications of this science in different fields, with a focus on those applications that are related to the pharmaceutical field. At the end of the workshop, questions were asked to test the students’ understanding of the topics covered in the lectures, and prizes were awarded to excellent students. The workshop was planned as one of the events in a series of several events related to the “Rwabitt grant”, which is fosters academic partnership between Jordanian and American universities, sponsored by Fulbright and the American Embassy in Amman.
In 2023, Dr. Hmedat and Dr. Yehya received the grant along with Dr. Chris Shaffer from the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) in the US.
A group of pharmacy students from Yarmouk University (YU) visited the “Analytical Research Department” at Hikma Pharmaceutical Company in October 2023. The visit was a valuable opportunity for the students to learn from one of the leading pharmaceutical companies in Jordan and the Middle East.
The students were welcomed by Mr. Ahmad Alian and Mr. Muhannad Abd Alraheem, two senior analysts who work at the “Analytical Research Department”. They gave the students a brief overview of the department’s functions and objectives, which include developing and validating analytical methods, conducting stability studies, and performing routine testing of raw materials and finished products. The students also learned about the quality standards and regulations that govern the pharmaceutical industry, such as good manufacturing practices (GMP), good laboratory practices (GLP), and international pharmacopoeias.
The visit helped the students to bridge the gap between theory and practice and to enhance their skills and knowledge in pharmaceutical analysis and quality assurance. The students also appreciated the history and achievements of Hikma Pharmaceutical Company and its contribution to the health sector. The students thanked Mr. Alian and Mr. Abd Alraheem for their hospitality and guidance, as well as Dr. Abu Deiab and Dr. Gammoh from the faulty of pharmacy for organizing this visit.

The welcoming and orientation meeting was held for the new students of the Faculty of pharmacy for the new academic year 2023-2024, under the auspices of the Dean of the faculty Prof. Dr. Fadia Mayas, in the presence of a number of faculty and administrative staff.
The meeting opened with a reading of Al- Fatiha on the souls of the martyrs in Gaza, then a welcoming speech from the Dean of the college, Prof. Dr. Fadia Mayas welcomed the new students and blessed their admission to the faculty program and urged them to be diligent, persistent, show discipline and good behavior that should prevail among them as colleagues and with faculty staff.
The meeting included honoring students with high grades at the Faculty of Pharmacy from the first year to the fifth year in recognition of their efforts and excellence and to create a state of competition between students and to be an incentive for new students to pay attention to their academic achievement.
During the meeting, an introductory video about the college and its facilities was presented, then the Dean Assistant for Student Affairs, Dr. Ali Hmedat made a presentation for students about the facilities of the college and University and the services provided by the university to students in addition to the most important laws and regulations that must be adhered to on campus.
Then, the vice Dean Dr. Bilal Al-Jaidi spoke about the most important instructions related to the study plan, academic guidance and exams and he ascertained the means of communication with the college administration and faculty members.
Then the heads of the departments at the college introduced the departments of the college and their various courses.
At the end of the meeting, an interactive session was held, in which the Dean of the faculty and the administrative staff answered the student's questions and inquiries.

The academic and administrative staff at the College of Pharmacy at Yarmouk University, represented by its Dean, Professor Dr. Fadia Mayas, arranged a meeting on the occasion of the promotions and appointments of a group of colleagues. During the ceremony, members of the previous administration staff were honored for the efforts and years they made in serving the College of Pharmacy. The former Dean Professor Dr. Mervat Al-Sous, who assumed the position of Dean of the College of Pharmacy for four consecutive years, in addition to Professor Dr. Ala`a AlJabali, the vice Dean, Dr. Bilal Al-Jaidi, the Head of the Department of Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacognosy, Dr. Maryam Razigue, the Head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology, and Dr. Rawan Al-Shraideh, the Dean Assistant for Student Affairs, were all recognized for their contributions to the Faculty of Pharmacy. Also the new administrative staff were also welcomed.

As a part of the tours made by His Excellency Professor Dr. Islam Massad to the university’s faculties and departments, the College of Pharmacy was honored on Thursday, 11/9/2023, by His Excellency’s visit. He toured the college’s facilities, viewed its infrastructure, and its research and teaching laboratories. He met the college’s administrative and teaching bodies, and praised at the College of Pharmacy, and expressed his interest and continued support for the college, as he explained during his visit the most important challenges facing the university.
During the visit, the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Fadia Mayas, gave a presentation of the college’s current situation and the current and future plans that the college intends to implement to develop the teaching, research, and training axes of the pharmacy program. His Excellency was accompanied on the visit by the professors, Vice Presidents, Professor Dr. Samer Samara, Professor Dr. Musa Rababa’a, and the Dean of the College of Science, Professor Dr. Amjad Al-Nasser, who gave an explanatory presentation on the proposal of the performance evaluation committee at the level of Yarmouk University.
We thank His Excellency Professor Dr. Islam Masad for his visit and his interest in informing and communicating directly with the members of the teaching and administrative staff and his continued keenness to support and develop the college.
As part of a series of workshops organized by the Pharmacy college at Yarmouk university to train faculty members on technology tools and develop the teaching methodology and examination methods for the college's courses, so that they include interactive and technological activities.
Dr. Yazan Akkam, from the Faculty of Pharmacy at Yarmouk University, kindly conducted a workshop in which he explained and applied a set of interactive activities using the H5P applications available on the Moodle platform, which can be used by faculty members in presenting and evaluating exams, creating interactive content with students, in addition to using them as supporting teaching tools.
The first training course entitled Cell Culture Technology was concluded on Sunday, 10/10/2023 at the Faculty of Pharmacy at Yarmouk University in cooperation with the Queen Rania Center.
This comprehensive, week-long training course provided participants with a solid high-quality skill in cell culture techniques, and considered the first cooperation of the College of Pharmacy with the Queen Rania Center and the first course of this kind at the university level.
In this course, participants learned the basics of cell preservation, including techniques for multiplying, storing, monitoring cell growth, and counting. In addition to lectures, videos, and practical sessions in the cell culture laboratory, where participants conducted some experiments under the supervision of Dr. Ali Hmedat, course coordinator and assistant dean of the College of Pharmacy for student affairs.
The closing was attended by the Director of the Queen Rania Center, Professor Dr. Abdel Baset Athamneh, the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Fadia Mayas, and a number of faculty members.
The director of the center adored the efforts of the college and those in charge of this course, hoping that this training course would be a key for future training courses in other fields in cooperation with the College of Pharmacy.
Prof. Dr. Fadia Mayyas thanked the Queen Rania Center for their efforts and interest in organizing such courses and praised the efforts of Dr. Ali Hmedat, the course supervisor, and the training assistant, Ayat Al-Shouh. The Dean congratulated the participants, noting the importance of these applied courses in providing them with skills that expand their understanding and open new horizons and fields of work. It is worth noting that this course was accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education and rewards 30 training hours. At the end of the course, certificates were distributed to the 10 participants.
