The Faculty of Pharmacy at Yarmouk University organized a free medical day at the Women’s Programs Center in Gaza Camp – Jerash, with the participation of a distinguished group of doctors from various specialties from the Faculty of Medicine. The event was also supported by pharmacy students, the RBC team, and the Sustainable Development team.

The clinics witnessed a large turnout, with more than 600 patients receiving medical examinations, consultations, and necessary medications. This initiative day played an important vital role in strengthening the university’sYU commitment to the community service and fostering the values of volunteerism and social responsibility among students.

At the conclusion end of the event, the Faculty of Pharmacy extended its sincere gratitude and appreciation to all the doctors and volunteers who worked tirelessly hardly to ensure the success of this initiativeday. The faculty reaffirmed its commitment to continuing such efforts to provide healthcare to those in need and to promote social solidarity.

The Social Committee at the Faculty of Pharmacy held its first meeting with the academic and administrative staff at the faculty on Thursday 11/28/2024. During the meeting, the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Prof. Dr. Ghaith Al-Taani, took a generous initiative to honor Prof. Dr. Mervat Alsous for her endless efforts in leading the American ACPE accreditation file, which culminated in obtaining the accreditation certificate in 2023. During the meeting, the Social Committee honored Prof. Dr. Alaa Al-Jabali for being ranked among the top 2% in the world according to the Stanford list. The committee also honored Prof. Dr. Mohammad Zaitoun for his efforts in serving the faculty as he is the first professor among all faculty members. The committee also emphasized in a speech delivered by the head of the Social Committee Ph. Reem Abu Hashhash, the importance of communication between members, working in a team spirit, and sharing their occasions.

In the occasion of World Diabetes Day, the Faculty of Pharmacy at Yarmouk University, in collaboration with Al-Hussein Bin Talal Library and the university's Medical Club, organized a comprehensive awareness event addressing diabetes. The event was attended by the Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Gaith Al-Taani, and the Director of the Library, Dr. Mohammad Shakhatreh, along with several faculty members, administrative staff, and students.

The organization of the event was supervised by Dr. Islam Bardawil, Dr. Mariam Al-Amri, Dr. Meriem Rezigue, and pharmacists Salam Shannag, Sama’a Abu Al-Ghanam, Afaf Khasawneh, and Afnan Ayyad. The program included blood sugar level testing and the distribution of educational brochures about diabetes and its medications.

During the event, educational information was provided, covering an introduction to diabetes, its types, causes, and prevention methods. The discussions also highlighted the importance of maintaining a healthy diet and engaging in regular physical activity as effective measures for preventing and managing the disease.

Dr. Gaith Al-Taani praised the efforts of the organizers and participants, highlighting the Faculty's role in promoting health awareness within the community and contributing to the prevention of chronic diseases. Dr. Mohammad Shakhateerah also commended the fruitful collaboration between the Faculty, the Library, and the Medical Club in organizing such beneficial events for both the university and the local community.

On behalf of Her Royal Highness Princess Aisha bint Al Hussein, General Dr. Yousef Zreiqat, Director General of the Royal Medical Services, witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the National Center for Women's Health Care and Yarmouk University to enhance academic, research, and professional collaboration in the field of women's and children's health.

The agreement was signed by the President of Yarmouk University, Prof. Islam Massad, and the Director of the Center, Lieutenant Colonel Rahma Jibril, in coordination with the Faculty of Pharmacy, represented by its Dean, Prof. Ghaith Al-Taani, and the Assistant Dean for Accreditation and Quality Assurance, Dr. Aseel Rataan.

The memorandum aims to support joint scientific research, exchange information and expertise, provide high-quality training opportunities for university students, and participate in medical events, contributing to the development of healthcare services.

On Sunday, the College of Pharmacy administration held a productive meeting with master's program students in the seminar hall, attended by the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Gaith Ta’ani, the Vice Dean, Dr. Bilal Al-Jaidi, and the Vice Dean for Scientific Research, Dr. Mohammad Ayasrah.

Professor Dr. Gaith Ta’ani opened the meeting by welcoming the students and emphasizing the administration’s commitment to providing all necessary support to help them achieve academic and research excellence.

Dr. Bilal Al-Jaidi discussed the study plan and available courses, highlighting key updates and modifications aimed at enhancing the academic program to better meet students' needs.

Dr. Mohammad Ayasrah elaborated on the procedures for switching from the comprehensive track to the thesis track, providing a detailed explanation of the required steps and conditions. He also answered students' inquiries regarding this matter.

The meeting concluded with an open discussion, where students shared their questions and feedback about the academic program, expressing their appreciation for the college administration’s efforts in improving the educational experience and enhancing academic quality.

The Faculty of Pharmacy has launched a series of medical scientific articles to enhance the students’ ability to scientifically write about controversial topics based on reliable scientific sources. An article was written by the student Abrar Al-Oleimat under the supervision of Dr. Deniz Al-Tawalbeh about common mistakes in using medicinal herbs.

The Social Committee at the Faculty of Pharmacy held its second meeting with the academic and administrative staff on Sunday, February 2, 2025. During the meeting, the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Prof. Ghaith Al-Taani, in a generous initiative alongside the Social Committee, honored Dr. Rasha Arabiyat in recognition of her valued contributions to the faculty following her resignation and transition to the University of Jordan.

Additionally, the Dean and the Rapporteur of the Social Committee honored Mr. Laith Al-Azzam for his dedicated service to the faculty as he moves to the Public Services Department at the university.

The Social Committee also recognized several other faculty and administrative members for their contributions. Rapporteur of the Social Committee, Reem Abu Hashhash, emphasized the importance of fostering communication among members, promoting teamwork, and actively participating in each other's significant occasions.

The Faculty of Pharmacy conducted the OSCE exam for students enrolled in the field training course on Tuesday, December 27, 2024. The exam was attended by members of the training committee, teaching assistants, and laboratory technicians.

As part of its efforts to serve the local community and foster a spirit of social cooperation among its students, the Faculty of Pharmacy at Yarmouk University organized a visit to the Elderly Care Home in Irbid on Tuesday, December 31, 2024.

The visit was attended by a number of faculty students, under the supervision and coordination of Dr. Meriem Rezigue and Dr. Hadeia Mashaqbeh. The event included public health awareness activities for the elderly, in addition to cultural and recreational activities that brought joy and happiness to the elderly residents.

The visit aimed to develop a sense of responsibility and humanity among the participating students and promote values of intergenerational communication, contributing to the creation of a conscious generation that understands the importance of volunteer work.
