A Team from the Faculty of Pharmacy Conducts Awareness Activities at the Model School for Yarmouk University

As part of its commitment to community engagement and its mission to promote scientific and health awareness, a team from the Faculty of Pharmacy at Yarmouk University conducted a series of educational lectures and awareness activities at the Model School for Yarmouk University. The activities targeted female students from different grade levels and aimed to strengthen the Faculty’s role in serving the local community and its institutions while enhancing scientific and health literacy among school students.

Dr. Bayan Malkawi, pharmacist and lecturer, in collaboration with Pharmacy Laboratory Technician Ms. Al-Baraa Al-Zaabi, delivered interactive awareness lectures that included practical scientific demonstrations inside the school laboratory for students in Grades 6, 7, and 8. The sessions focused on the importance of adhering to laboratory safety regulations, proper handling of chemical substances, and appropriate response procedures in emergency situations. These activities contributed to reinforcing disciplined scientific behavior and fostering a culture of safety among students.

In addition, Dr. Bayan Malkawi, together with Pharmacy Laboratory Technicians Ms. Sahar Ibrahim and Pharmacist Tamara Arayda, presented an awareness lecture for Grade 2 students on the importance of vitamins and minerals for body health and growth. The session was delivered in a simplified and age-appropriate manner, highlighting the role of balanced nutrition in supporting memory and healthy development, and included engaging educational activities that enhanced students’ understanding.

The activities were implemented in cooperation with members of the school’s teaching staff, including Ms. Rasha Hoorani, Ms. Hadeel Khalifeh, Ms. Tahani Al-Qudah, Ms. Sarab Al-Sabbah, Laboratory Technician Ms. Nisreen Al-Jarrah, and Grade 2 homeroom teacher Ms. Naeema Dallou. The events were supervised by Stage Directors Ms. Ameera Obeidat and Ms. Asar Al-Ta’ani, and Basic Stage Principal Ms. Haifa Al-Hamouri, and were attended by the School’s Director General, Professor Osama Al-Omari.

These initiatives reflect the strong collaboration between the Faculty of Pharmacy and educational institutions in serving the local community and promoting scientific and health awareness among students.
