The Faculty of Pharmacy, in collaboration with the Deanship of Student Affairs at Yarmouk University, organized a scientific visit to the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA). The visit was supervised by Dr. Islam Berdaweel and Dr. Bilal Juaidi, with the participation of a group of pharmacy students.
The visit commenced with a lecture delivered by Dr. Jabr Jabr, during which he introduced the various departments of the JFDA and highlighted their essential roles in ensuring the safety and quality of food and pharmaceutical products in Jordan. He also provided a detailed overview of the Pharmacovigilance Department, emphasizing its importance in monitoring medication safety and detecting potential adverse drug reactions post-marketing.
Following the lecture, the students participated in a guided tour of several directorates and departments within the institution, including the Directorate of Food and the Directorate of Drugs—specifically the Departments of Pricing, Inspection, and Control. The tour also included a visit to the JFDA laboratories, where the students learned about the analytical procedures and quality control measures applied to various samples.
At the conclusion of the visit, the students expressed their gratitude to the JFDA for the warm reception and the valuable information provided, affirming that the experience enriched their knowledge and strengthened the link between theoretical learning and practical application in the fields of food and drug regulation.
