The Faculty of Pharmacy, under the supervision of Professor Ghaith Al-Taani, organized a workshop presented by Dr. Ahmad Al-Rassasi titled “Medication Therapy Management (MTM)”, as a part of the preparations to implement this new service in community pharmacies.
During the workshop, participants were introduced to the concept of Medication Therapy Management and its role in enhancing patient care. The focus was placed on how to effectively implement this service to ensure collaboration between the pharmacist and the patient for the safe and effective use of medications. The workshop also covered the steps of service implementation, expected challenges, and practical approaches to follow-up and evaluation.
Dr. Al-Rassasi emphasized that this initiative represents a qualitative leap in community pharmacy practice, moving beyond medication dispensing to providing patient-centered pharmaceutical care aimed at improving health outcomes and reducing medication errors.
This initiative comes at a time when the pharmacy sector is witnessing significant transformations in the professional role of the pharmacist and the expansion of their scope of practice to include value-added pharmaceutical care services—aligning with modern trends in healthcare delivery.
