In the occasion of World Diabetes Day, the Faculty of Pharmacy at Yarmouk University, in collaboration with Al-Hussein Bin Talal Library and the university's Medical Club, organized a comprehensive awareness event addressing diabetes. The event was attended by the Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Gaith Al-Taani, and the Director of the Library, Dr. Mohammad Shakhatreh, along with several faculty members, administrative staff, and students.
The organization of the event was supervised by Dr. Islam Bardawil, Dr. Mariam Al-Amri, Dr. Meriem Rezigue, and pharmacists Salam Shannag, Sama’a Abu Al-Ghanam, Afaf Khasawneh, and Afnan Ayyad. The program included blood sugar level testing and the distribution of educational brochures about diabetes and its medications.
During the event, educational information was provided, covering an introduction to diabetes, its types, causes, and prevention methods. The discussions also highlighted the importance of maintaining a healthy diet and engaging in regular physical activity as effective measures for preventing and managing the disease.
Dr. Gaith Al-Taani praised the efforts of the organizers and participants, highlighting the Faculty's role in promoting health awareness within the community and contributing to the prevention of chronic diseases. Dr. Mohammad Shakhateerah also commended the fruitful collaboration between the Faculty, the Library, and the Medical Club in organizing such beneficial events for both the university and the local community.
