Symposium on "Diabetes from a Pharmaceutical Perspective"

 

Dr. Ahmed Al-Ajlouni, Vice President of Yarmouk University, sponsored the opening of the symposium "Diabetes from a Pharmaceutical Perspective" organized by the Faculty of Pharmacy on the occasion of World Diabetes Day, which aims to raise awareness about the dangers of diabetes and is celebrated annually on November 14th. The Dean of the College, Dr. Sayer Azzam said that the organization of this day came to highlight the seriousness of this disease and its rapid spread, where studies indicated that by 2030 will be the seventh leading cause of death in the world. He pointed out that this disease has become an epidemic and the efforts exerted to control it are inadequate and unacceptable if compared to the number of people with diabetes in the world, emphasizing the need for collaboration among health care providers from doctors, nurses, pharmacists and nutritionists in the diagnosis and treatment of diabetics. During the opening ceremony, Dr. Nisreen Saada from Jordan University of Science and Technology presented a lecture entitled "Diabetes and its symptoms". In her lecture she talked about the concept of diabetes, its types and the methods of prevention treatment. The event also included lectures on "The Role of Pharmaceutical Education in Diabetes Care" by Dr. Sayer Al Azzam, "Diabetes and the Heart" by Dr. Osama Abu Al-Rub, "Dietary Nutrition for Diabetics" by Dima Haddadin, "The Use of Natural Plants in the Treatment of Diabetes" by Dr. Reem Issa and Fadi Tawfiq's on the suject of "Diabetes Foot". Brochures on diabetes awareness and prevention were distributed during the day.
